Helsinki Independent Film Festival is a film festival dedicated to independent cinema. It is managed by the editors of Indie Cinema Magazine and aims to promote auteur cinema and to be a celebration of world cinema.

Helsinki Independent Film Festival is an annual live event with Awards Ceremony.

We promote independent cinematography and emphasize artistic values of films and indepenent thinking Helsinki, Finland. This celebration is a unique chance for artists to communicate and see the films. We will screen winning films at our annual event.

Our international jury members watch all the screeners online. Among them are world-class film directors, journalists, and artists. We appreciate the artistic side of the films and an independent point of view. We are open to submissions from all over the world. Our jury members value cinema by great artists such as Fellini, Bergman, Antonioni, Kurosawa, Chaplin. We wish to discover new talents and encourage talented filmmakers who work on a tight budget.

Helsinki is beautiful modern city in the Northern Europe. There are many festivals taking place here and cultural life is vibrant. Finnish filmmakers, such as Kaurismäki, are internationally well known. Finns are open to other cultures and usually speak English very well. Helsinki is situated on the beautiful Baltic sea and is a perfect place for a film festival.
